Before You Send That Email

Yes. I read everything. But I stop reading when...

  • ...you ask how much I spent. Cause it's kinda rude.
  • ...you ask how much specific things cost. There's lots of ways to find those answers without even getting up from the computer.
  • ...you ask me to plan your trip/life for you. There are plenty of fine travel agents and guide books for that. I've also already put a whole lot of what I've learned on this site for you to read. But of course, it's important to remember that your most memorable experiences will be the ones you discover for yourself.
  • ...you reprimand me for not dancing where you live. I enjoy polite requests. In fact, even if you're emailing about something else, please let me know where you are. I'll file it away and if I ever decide to make another video someday, I may get in touch. But it's a big planet, and the videos aren't really about where you live. They're about where you don't.
  • ...you ask me what my favorite place is. It's a perfectly harmless question and it comes from a very human impulse, one that I absolutely share, to reduce and to trivialize -- to glean something off the surface and move on. One could certainly argue that's what I do with my videos. I couldn't mount much of a defense. I just ask that you put some more thought into what you ask, cause I don't really have an answer anyway.
Those are the big five. Also, you don't really have to list all the places you've been for me. I will believe you if you say you're well-traveled. And if you're not, I won't think any less of you.

Please don't send me gigantic attachments. Links are preferred. And if you can't do that: compress, folks. Compress.

I don't do sponsorship referalls and I don't have any tips on how to get one. My only advice is to go out and do something nifty.

Oh, and spelling and grammar do count if English is your native tongue. Otherwise, just do your best.

The odds of a response are pretty slim. Like maybe 5%. And that drops below 1% when I've just put a new video out. I like being easy to contact, but that means I get a whole lot of email and I just don't have time to get back to everyone. If you're really itching for a response, just say something nice or interesting or ask me a question that I can answer quickly.

One last thing for those who are asking: "Praan" is available for purchase on iTunes as well as Amazon MP3. If you're outside the US, try iTunes.

Got all that? Great. Now I look forward to reading your email.
